Wholemeal Yoghurt Scones

Wholemeal scones with 1/2 cup of yoghurt makes the difference to this traditional Edmonds recipe

Ingredients

2 cups wholemeal flour

1 teaspoon Edmonds baking soda

3 teaspoons Edmonds baking powder

50 g butter

1 teaspoon sugar

1/2 cup natural unsweetened yoghurt milk

Method

Sift flour, soda and baking powder into a bowl

Return husks left in the sifter to flour in the bowl

Cut butter into flour mixture until it resembles breadcrumbs

Stir in sugar and yoghurt

Mix to a soft dough

Lightly dust an oven tray with flour

Press scone dough out to a 20 cm round

Mark into eight

Brush top with milk

Bake at 220C for 10 minutes or until pale golden

Makes 8
