Turkish Delight
Home made Turkish Delight
Ingredients
2 tablespoons gelatine
3/4 cup water
2 cups sugar
1 cup boiling water
1/2 teaspoon tartaric acid
few drops flavouring - e.g. rosewater or lemon or creme de menthe
few drops red food colouring
1/2 cup icing sugar
1/2 cup Edmonds Fielder's cornflour
Method
Combine gelatine and first measure of water in a saucepan
Leave to swell for 10 minutes
Add sugar and boiling water
Stir until sugar and gelatine dissolve
Heat gently, stirring until mixture boils
Leave to boil for 15 minutes, stirring occasionally
Remove from heat
Add the tartaric acid, flavouring and colour
Pour into a wet tin
Leave to set for 24 hours
Combine icing sugar and cornflour
Cut into squares
Roll in cornflour mixture
