Health Loaf

With Bran, wholemeal flour, golden syrup, dates and walnuts as ingredients, this loaf obtained the name Healthy

Ingredients

1/2 cup Edmonds plain baking flour

1/2 cup baking bran

1/2 cup wholemeal flour

1/2 cup chopped dates

1/4 cup chopped walnuts

1/4 teaspoon salt

1 egg

2 tablespoons sugar

1/4 cup golden syrup, warmed

1 tablespoon melted butter

1/4 cup milk

1/2 teaspoon Edmonds baking soda

1/4 cup hot water

Method

Sift flour into a bowl

Add bran, wholemeal flour, dates, walnuts and salt

In a separate bowl beat egg and sugar together

Add syrup, butter and milk

Mix into dry ingredients

Dissolve baking soda in hot water and add

Mix well

Pour into a greased 18 cm loaf tin

Bake at 190°C for 45 minutes or until loaf springs back when lightly touched

Leave in tin for 10 minutes before turning out onto a cooling rack
