Butterscotch
A simple sweet treat
Ingredients
125 g butter
2 cups sugar
1 cup water
1 teaspoon cream of tartar
Preparation
Melt the butter in a saucepan
Add sugar and water
Cook over a low heat, stirring constantly until sugar has dissolved
Add cream of tartar and bring to the boil
Do not stir
Let mixture boil until the soft crack stage
Pour mixture into a buttered tin
Cool slightly then mark into squares
Cut when cold
